Last week was outdoor learning week. P1a/b decided to take their numeracy outside. We used resources from the outdoor learning cupboard to create domino and dice patterns.

Dinosaur art
Today we created some fabulous dinosaur inspired art. Some created skeletons using straws and others used chalk, plasticine or drew dinosaurs free hand.
Maths week
We have been learning about numbers and exploring them in lots of different ways!
Ganesh Chaturthi
Ganesh Chaturthi is a Hindu festival in honour of Ganesh, the god of good fortune and new beginnings.
We were delighted to welcome one of our families to the classroom this afternoon to tell us about Ganesh Chaturthi. They showed us pictures and explained that they had used a sort of clay, made from turmeric, to create a model of Ganesh (they had even added his mouse) and that at the end of the festival they will dissolve the model in water.
As part of the festival they like to share sweets and fruits with others, so they brought lots of fruit to share with everyone in P1D.
We would like to say a HUGE thank you to them all – we really enjoyed the visit and we learned lots!
Dinosaur land
Primary 1A and B took a journey to dinosaur land during welly Wednesday yesterday. They found dinosaur teeth, claw scratches, bones and even made a huge dinosaur using natural materials in the nature strip!

Today we travelled back in time to the land of dinosaurs! We found dinosaur bones, eggs, teeth and other artefacts. We had great fun and returned to Sciennes full of excitement.
More Dinosaur Fun!
